Panic Button 4.4 beta 4 released!

A fourth beta release of the next version of Panic Button is now available for testers and early adopters craving the latest and greatest. This unplanned fourth beta includes a last-minute bug fix for an issue affecting users who have installed the Firefox Multi-Account Containers add-on.

What's New

Here are the new features coming to version 4.4:

  • New menu options added to the Panic Button toolbar button context menu, allowing you to change the toolbar button in just a few clicks, or go to the extension preferences page. To show the context menu, right-click on the Panic Button toolbar button (issue #61 and #70)
  • New option in extension preferences for snoozing inactive browser tabs when restoring the browser session after invoking the Hide and Replace action (issue #64)
  • When restoring the browser session after invoking the Hide and Replace action, Panic Button will try to restore Reader Mode on those browser tabs that had it turned on (issue #65)
  • The toolbar button icons now blends in better with the Light and Dark themes in Firefox 89 and newer (issue #71 and #73)
  •  Fixed in 4.4b4  Container tabs were converted to normal tabs when restoring the browser session after invoking the Hide and Replace action (issue #74)

Things You Should Know About

  • Panic Button 4.4 requires Firefox 78 or newer.  
  • The Hide and Replace action won't work if Firefox is set to "Never remember history" in Privacy & Security settings.

Clippings 6.3 beta 1 released!

This is the first beta release of the next version of Clippings. It is being made available for testers and early adopters craving the latest and greatest, and who are willing to tolerate a few bugs.

Read on to learn more about what's new in this release, and how to get it.

What's New

  • Improvements to Clippings Manager. On Windows, Clippings Manager now remembers its window size and position (issue #314)
  • Improvements to support for multiple displays on Windows. Clippings popup windows and dialogs will now be positioned within the browser window from which they were opened, instead of always centered on the primary display (issue #346). This feature is not available on macOS or Linux.
  • New option to skip backup reminders if there were no changes to your clippings since the last backup (issue #324)

Things You Should Know About

  • Thunderbird Users: This version of Clippings is designed for Firefox and is not compatible with Thunderbird. Get Clippings for Thunderbird, now compatible with Thunderbird 78.
  • Clippings 6.3 requires Firefox 78 or newer.
  • Some features may not be available when Firefox is in Private Browsing mode, or if the browser privacy settings are too restrictive.
  • If you want to use Sync Clippings, download and install the Sync Clippings helper app. More information and download links can be found on the Sync Clippings page on the AE Creations website. The Sync Clippings Helper app is available for Windows only.

Clippings 6.2.10 released!

Another minor update to Clippings 6.2 for Mozilla Firefox has been released, and is now available from Mozilla Add-ons and the AE Creations website.

If you already have Clippings installed, it will be upgraded for you if automatic extension updates are enabled. Otherwise, open Add-ons Manager (Tools → Add-ons), click on the entry for Clippings in the list of installed extensions, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Check for Updates.

What's New

  • Bug fix: On Firefox 89, the search by name textbox in the keyboard paste dialog isn't focused when switching from shortcut key mode (issue #341)

Things You Should Know About

  • Thunderbird Users: Clippings 6.2 is not compatible with Thunderbird. Get Clippings for Thunderbird 6.0, now compatible with Thunderbird 78.
  • Clippings 6.2 requires Firefox 68 or newer, and is compatible with Firefox 78 ESR.
  • Some features may not be available when Firefox is in Private Browsing mode, or if the browser privacy settings are too restrictive.
  • If you want to use Sync Clippings, download and install the Sync Clippings helper app. More information and download links can be found on the Sync Clippings page on the AE Creations website. The Sync Clippings Helper app is available for Windows only.

Still Using Firefox 68 ESR?

Upcoming versions of Clippings won't be compatible with Firefox 68 ESR. If you're still using Clippings on this older Extended Support Release, upgrade to Firefox 78 ESR as soon as possible so that you'll continue getting future updates for Clippings.
