Supported Languages

Clippings 5.1.1 is available in English (United States), French, Finnish, German, Italian and Slovenian.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of availability of translators, many of the languages that Clippings was previously available in are unavailable for version 5.  If you are fluent in English and another world language and would like to help update the translations for Clippings, consider joining Babelzilla and signing up for your language team.

Coming soon: Clippings 5.1.1

A fix for an issue with pasting a clipping into Gmail's message editor (as well as the message editor in Yahoo! Mail, and possibly others as well) is on its way.  This requires a new release; it is now awaiting review on Mozilla Add-ons and should be available in the next few days.

There was another reported issue with not being able to create or paste a clipping if the web page is inside an HTML frame.  Unfortunately, a fix for this issue will not be available at this time.  Users encountering this scenario should follow these workaround instructions:
  1. Right-click on the page and select This Frame → Show Only This Frame from the context menu
  2. Then try creating or pasting a clipping

  3. Select the text in the clipping that you wanted to paste into Gmail, then drag and drop it into the message editor in Gmail

Delicious Post discontinued

Due to ongoing unresolved issues with the Delicious APIs, especially the constant "error saving link" errors, I have decided to discontinue Delicious Post.

The Mozilla Add-ons page for Delicious Post has been deactivated, and the Delicious Post page on the AE Creations website has been taken down.  Downloads are no longer available; however, the Delicious Post forum will remain active.

If you already have Delicious Post installed, you can continue to use it (and put up with the ongoing errors originating from the Delicious Post API), but because development of Delicious Post has ended, no new features or bug fixes will be available.

Delicious Post is confirmed to be functioning with multi-process browser tabs (a.k.a. Electrolysis or e10s) -- for now.

Current users should consider looking at alternatives, such as the Delicious bookmarklet that is available from their website.

Delicious Post has been one of my favourite add-ons to work on.  Years ago, I had forked the original "post to del.icio.us" add-on which was no longer maintained, and added a few features to make it better while maintaining its lightweight simplicity.  I'm a Delicious user myself, so I counted myself as one of its avid users.  It's regrettable that it has come to this, but having struggled with poorly-documented third party APIs that are outside my control and for which there are no known workarounds to its issues, I felt that this was the best course of action.

Thanks to all of its users, past and present, for their support.

  • Save the source URL (web address) of a clipping. In the New Clipping dialog, click Options and select the checkbox option "Save the address of the source web page".  Available for Firefox only
  • Placeholders with default values.  Example: $[placeholderName{defaultValue}].  When pasting a clipping with such a placeholder, the dialog prompt will supply a default value which you can accept or change.
  • Placeholders with multiple selectable values.  Example: $[placeholderName{value1|value2|value3|...}].  When pasting a clipping with such a placeholder, the dialog prompt will display a drop-down menu where you can select from the available values.
  • New Placeholder Toolbar in Clippings Manager, for novice users discovering the convenience of placeholders.  Turn it on by clicking Tools → Placeholder Bar in Clippings Manager
  • You can now insert a clipping directly from the shortcut key help window, if accessed from the shortcut key prompt
  • Improvements to Clippings Manager to maximize the area in the window for editing your clippings. The details pane (with the shortcut key, label and source web page address of a clipping) is hidden by default; to display it, select Tools → Show/Hide → Details Pane
  • A fresh new look for the Clippings toolbar button in Firefox and Thunderbird, the Clippings context menu and Clippings Manager
