Monthly update: July 2023

Here's what happening in the month of July!

A new version of Clippings, the extension for Firefox from AE Creations that lets you save frequently-entered text for later pasting into web page forms, will be coming out soon. It is currently under review by the Firefox Add-ons review team. An announcement will be posted here once it is released.

Clippings for Thunderbird 6.3 was just released, and is compatible with Thunderbird 115. Current users of Thunderbird who want to get this new version of Clippings for Thunderbird can wait for the new version of Thunderbird to be available to upgrade; if you don't want to wait, you can download and install Thunderbird 115 now.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be working on some improvements to Read Next, the reading list extension for Firefox -- watch this blog for an announcement on a beta release. I'll also resume working on the next version of Panic Button which is being converted to a Manifest V3 extension.

Monthly update: June 2023

Here's an update on what's happening in June!

Read Next 1.1 beta 1 is released for testing. Check out the blog post for details on what's new. There is additional work to do, so check back here soon for an announcement on a second beta release.

I've made progress on the upcoming new versions of Clippings and Clippings for Thunderbird. I have learned that there are changes coming to the next stable release of Thunderbird which will break backward compatibility with Thunderbird 102 and older. I will make every effort to have the update for Clippings for Thunderbird released in time for Thunderbird 115.

I'm also going to return to Panic Button and continue working on this Manifest V3 extension, though how much I can get done on it this month will depend on the workload for the other extensions.

Monthly update: May 2023

Here's a short update on what's happening for the month of May!

Work is progressing on the next version of Clippings and Clippings for Thunderbird. I've eliminated the remaining calls in the extension pages (e.g. Clippings Manager) to get the background script, replacing them with message passing. I've also fixed a bug where formatted date placeholders were always populated in English even on non-English locales; this will definitely be a welcome fix for international users.

I've also started work on the next version of Read Next, and have implemented a new option to automatically close the reading list sidebar when clicking on a link in the reading list. Read Next 1.1 will also have the ability to add multiple selected tabs to the reading list, as well as rename a link. The new version is planned for release in June of this year.
